The Oceania Long distance competition will be held at Lake Rototoa which is on the beautiful South Kaipara Head Peninsula about 80 minutes from central Auckland.
The Kaipara South Head is a massive, ancient sand barrier that separates the South Kaipara Harbour from the Tasman Sea. A long line of interdune hollows runs up the Kaipara South Head, parallel to the coastline. These interdune hollows are lower than the groundwater level so they fill up with groundwater to create fresh water lakes.
Lake Rototoa is the largest of these interdune lakes. Lake Kereta is another smaller example and is used for the Oceania Relay event.

START TIMES
MAP NAME: Rototoa
LOCATION: Donohue Road, South Head Peninsula.
DISTANCES: 30km from Parakai. Allow 40 minutes. 80km from Auckland CBD. Allow 90 minutes non-peak hour traffic.
PARKING: Adjacent to event arena.
START: 1km walk from event arena. The first 350m is through a very rough, slow bush track where it will be difficult to run and/or overtake other competitors. The last 650m is along a forest road.
FINISH: In the arena.
