Driving
The Nelson Tasman region is accessible by road from Christchurch, Blenheim, Picton, the West Coast and Kaikoura.
A short drive over the Whangamoa Ranges links Nelson with Picton in the Marlborough Sounds – where passenger ferries arrive from the North Island.

Picton to Nelson City – 2 hours
Blenheim to Nelson City – 1 hr 40 minutes

Ferry
Several inter-island crossing are available every day by two carriers (Bluebridge and Interislander) between Wellington and Picton then connect through to Nelson Tasman by coach, bike or car transport.
