Last week we communicated to you we will be hosting the NISS Orienteering Champs 2022 from Friday 29th April to Sunday 1st May 2022. Regrettably we are now announcing the need to postpone this event.
Last Friday the Sprint venue, already our back-up venue after the first refused permission earlier this year, informed us that we could no longer use their grounds due to other conflicting factors.
In addition, the risks associated with organising an event in these Covid times hit home this week, and among many challenges highlighted the need that to guarantee the successful running of the event requires a dedicated back-up team for all roles in case members of the team come down with Covid or have to self-isolate. On the dates the competition was planned to be held, we won’t have these resources available. With more time we will be able to put in place plans to have cover for key roles.
It was a difficult decision for us to make as most of the organising committee have children competing or are involved with coaching school teams, so we’re aware how much the students were looking forward to the competition.
We look forward to hosting you later in the year and putting on a quality event that we have confidence we will be able to run successfully.
We will be in touch as soon as we can to let you know the rescheduled dates.
