80 min drive from central Auckland

Terrain:

Rolling to steep pine forest with some natives,open areas and water features.

Barlow Rd, off Ararimu Valley Rd, Riverhead Forest

Distance:

40min drive from central Auckland.

Terrain:

Gully/spur plantation forest from flat to steep with a good network of tracks.

Start Times

For the Sprint and the Long events each student has an allocated start time. The relay uses a mass start for each class. Start times will be published in the week before the event.

Rules

The event will be run under the NZ Foot Orienteering Rules as published by Orienteering NZ on its website, including the Special Rules for New Zealand Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships where they deviate from the standard competition rules

Entries

Entries are now OPEN. Entries MUST be through your school Sports Co-ordinator via EnterO

Closing date for entries is 11.59pm Tuesday 16 April. 

SPORTident (SI) will be used for all events. Standard types of SI cards can be used – i.e. standard SI Cards which are inserted into the contol. SI-Air Cards (SIAC) which are waved over the control may be used in manual mode (insert into the control) as SI Air will not be activated for these events. Competitors may use their own cards if they own one otherwise SI cards will be available for hire: standard SI Card $3 per event.

Public races – for family, coaches and team managers

Two courses will be available at the Sprint and Long events after all the students have started (approximately 2:30pm for the Sprint and 1:00pm at the Long).
Entry will be via enterO – NISS – Public Races.
Sprint: Starts from appox 14:30 subject to controller approval. Course Closure 15:30.
Long: Starts from 13:00 approx, subject to controller approval. Course closure 1500.
